Memory Cafe

Mingle at our Memory Cafe! Memory Café is a casual gathering designed exclusively for people with dementia and their caregivers. The Memory Café is a place where individuals with memory loss and their caregivers can get together in a supportive and engaging environment. 

The Memory Café is full of laughter, support and even the sharing of concerns—all without the feeling of being embarrassed or misunderstood. Plus, we provide cookies and coffee! 

The Memory Café is free to attend. The Memory Cafe is hosted in collaboration with the Erie Alzheimer's Association. First time attendees, please call the Erie Alzheimer's Association at 814-456-9200 to register. 


Jody Salerno: Safety for the Healthcare Worker

October 23, 2018 – 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Learn safety tips and techniques from safety advocate--JODY SALERNO

Topic: Safety for the Healthcare Worker

This presentation includes live demonstrations to help educate you on personal safety tactics for those working as a healthcare professional. This will be a 2 CEU credit program for RNs and SWs.

The presentation will teach you how to:

  • Prepare for a home visit
  • Recognize violence and abuse
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Evade and escape

Registration: 4:30 pm
Presentation: 5:00—7:00 pm

Hors d’ oeuvres are included! Campus tours will be offered before and after the program.

Seating is limited! Free and open to the public!

About Jody Salerno: Jody offers sought-after safety seminars and classes nationwide. Jody is a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor, an Instructor with the nationally recognized Refuse To Be A Victim program, a spokesperson and a facilitator for A Girl and A Gun Women’s Shooting League, Jody launched Personal Safety Alliance to empower women. Personal and tragic events in her life reinforced the need for her to take responsibility for her own protection and safety. Her firearms training began in 2013 which led to her becoming a NRA Certified Instructor.

Professionals (RNs and SWs) may earn 2 CEU credits. This program is approved for 2 CEU credits through the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work for LSW/LCSW, LPC and LMFT biennial license renewal. These activities meet the requirements of section 21.133 for professional nurses per the PA State Board of Nursing, those sponsored by national trade organizations, associations and their affiliated state and regional groups.

  • Handle rising stress levels (fight or flight response)
  • Prevent being victimized using “power” tactics
  • Navigate your surroundings

Monthly Alzheimer's Support Group - Erie

Lincoln Community Library, 1225 Manchester Road, Erie, PA 16505

As a family member, friend or caregiver of someone who is living with Alzheimer’s disease, joining our Support Group is a great way to find people who understand what you are experiencing.

In affiliation with the Alzheimer’s Association, we are proud to offer monthly support group sessions. The sessions are free and open to the public. 

The Support Group is held on the last Thursday of every month from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the Lincoln Community Library.
